Pinterest has been innovating in the Visual Search landscape since launching Lens in February 2017. This update helps connect the dots between inspiration and purchase. When Lens is used within fashion or home, the user will be shown shoppable Product Pins along with visually similar ideas to try or buy. Pinterest uses visual search technology to power ongoing recommendations based on these images, curated to your style. For example, if a Pinner is in the market for a new dining table, they can save a Lens photo of a real-world example to a board. Pinners can now also save photos from Lens, create Pins and save to their Boards. Improved Lens and Camera Search. The new design makes it quicker to take and upload photos from the camera roll.The announcement came with a series of updates to their Visual Search tool, Lens: 17, Pinterest announced their visual search technology can now identify more than 2.5 billion objects across home and fashion Pins.
